Preparing a few things to keep you busy.

As you begin to think about things you want to do during the first six to eight weeks when your movement is restricted, it’s a great time to pick out some things that you’ve always wanted to do. Post-surgery is a great time to learn a new language or watch how-to videos for your next project. Do a little early research to make sure you know which sites you want to go to so that you don’t strain yourself with a lot of keyboard time.

Maybe you and a friend want to learn how to play backgammon together, and you need to buy a board. Do you need to go to the library or the bookstore? Even preplan a schedule of friends to see at different times, asking them to stop by and have a chat or to play a game with you. Get on their schedules early so that you can stay busy.

Let your imagination run wild, and be sure to get everything you need for your busy time plans all stocked in the house before surgery.
