Week Fourteen! Without the sling, the people who orbit your life are forgetting that you still have some limits in movement and lifting. There are times when you’ll forget, but a bit of pain will remind you that you’re not ready for that just yet. Remember, this is a journey, not a race.

I continue to make steady gains in movement, but I’ve also hit the point where my brain and body want to go back to living and stop the exercises. It is so easy to let life pull you back into your old habits and activities. Your brain will say things like, “you can skip just one day,” or maybe “you did all that cleaning, so you don’t have to do your exercises today.”

I allowed myself to “substitute” other things for my exercises on two different Saturdays. The next day, my muscles ached, and I felt a bit stuck. My perception was that it took two days to get back where I was before the skips.

Want to Skip?  Stop. Take a deep breath. Now, tell yourself, “I need to do my exercise.” If I skip, I will hurt tomorrow.

Feel a bit stiff or achy? take 3 minutes and do one of your exercises. You’ll be amazed at the results.
