Week Six! This week is over. I found it the most frustrating as I knew I was so close to being able to take off the sling, but couldn’t. I did realize that my entire body felt like it was moving better, even when I was just working on my daily PT. So I encourage you to stick to your guns and do your exercises.
The exercises from PT were a little harder again this week, and it means keeping focused to push your body to do the moves. I will give you a tip. When doing your exercises, if you think you’ve pushed your arm as far as it’s ever going to be able to go, do the exercise with your other arm. You’ll get a new appreciation of your goals for this journey. Another thing I learned is that when doing my exercise and I know I need to go a little further, sometimes I will stop at the five count, lower my arm, shake it out, and then do the next five. Remember, baby steps will still get you to your goal.
We’ve covered a lot of ground in our blog, from pre-surgery steps and surgery day, to the weekly update on the journey in the sling. I’ll post a few more blogs about PT and pushing my body harder to get to my end goals.
Until next time, remember hard work will pay off patience is a necessity.
